Like, it’s a splurgey occasion, but not if the food is potentially Incorrect. I don’t care how adventurous it is, if it’s too far outside parameters

Hot take: Defederation is feature, not a bug. Not everyone needs to talk to everyone all the time.

This kinda lines up with another quiet hot take I have: I'm not very fond of bridges between networks like ActivityPub, Bluesky, Nostr, etc. Maybe on a user-by-user utility basis. But, as a network-wide thing, there's too much context collapse.Like, sure, from a tech lens they're just protocols carrying very similar data. But, from a user lens, they're communities and cultures, even if accidental and implicit.

There we go: the face plate is printed. I might reprint with a more contrasting color though #3dprinting

The other neat thing is the faceplate attaches with magnets, so I can stick different widgets in there. I just happened to have a hygrometer laying aroundhttps://www.printables.com/model/962592-takara-mc-06-kronoform-the-desktop-clock

This happens a lot, but I don't usually manage to get a picture of it. Catsby and Cosmo tend to be in cahoots like big & lil bro

Just got into like a recursive nerd-off with some folks.Nerd A: how did you get anything done in 1992 without the internet?!Nerd B: technically we had internet in 1992, I used to go online for the Atari forums on CompuServeNerd Me: technically, CompuServe forums weren't the internetNerd B: yeah, they were online!Nerd Me: you could send and receive internet e-mail from CompuServe in 1992, but CompuServe had a lot of stuff not exposed or routed through the internetNerds A & B: 😖

Also caused additional consternation by going "actually, before 1991, you weren't really allowed to engage in commercial activity on the internet until Al Gore worked to change that"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Gore_and_information_technology
