@p This is true for a lot of larger instances, but many smaller instances (such as mine) are self-hosted for free using a Cloudflare Tunnel. If Cloudflare ever kicks me off or wrongs me I would just switch to using another solution that costs money.

@p Yeah, but this is a lot easier, especially since it's a shared network and there's no way anyone would let me touch the router. My current plan if Cloudflare drops me is to buy a cheap VPS and use it to port forward.

@shitpisscum I know this post is like a day old but for amd64 it’s curl 'https://git.pleroma.social/pleroma/pleroma/-/jobs/209298/artifacts/download?file_type=archive' -o /tmp/pleroma.zipprobably? If you have a different architecture you can probably find it by going to https://git.pleroma.social/pleroma/pleroma/-/commit/b22843a98247cf683764759f3e447845f3fcedf8/pipelines and clicking the download button on the second one and selecting your architecture

@lamp they loaded fine for me up until the second to last one, but now they're all inconsistently going to either 403 or the video.

@r000t not sure if this counts, but I have Valorant with Vanguard installed on an old shitty SSD and tried this in qemu. It seems to work, but I haven't updated anything in on it for a few months.

@r000t true. I'll try booting from it on bare metal in a bit, I need to update my kernel anyways

@r000t it appears to still work. Vanguard is active in the system tray, but that's also the case on the VM. I am corebooted though

@RustyCrab recently had to deal with this since my laptop shut down unexpectedly and corrupted the sync database. I made a local backup of everything before letting nextcloud do anything because it looked like it was about to just literally delete everything over 512 MB

@monkyyy @PunishedD @notghostpolitics I'd imagine he has high standards, but I guess it's always possible someone could have "found" a picture of his ID or something.

@PunishedD @notghostpolitics @monkyyy Well it's not like the LTT Twitter account has never been compromised, but I think longer Linus doesn't milk a high-profile Twitter hack tangentially related to KF for attention the more likely it's real.

@WandererUber I checked two of the more popular ones (Thingiverse and Printables) and neither are paid nor require a login to download. The staff being paid is irrelevant if the content is user-generated. I agree that printing chopsticks in mid-air is retarded for function, but 3D printing also has a subset of hobbyists who exclusively print things that look cool for decoration or fun. This applies to many things other than just chopsticks, and has indeed caused me grief too with incorrect specifications for what I wanted. The way I solved this problem is learning to 3D model and just being able to make whatever I want regardless of if anyone uploaded it or not. That's obviously a bit involved and depending on how they're selling you the printer could feel like a total scam.Of course, if you are using a paid website that charges a membership fee or something and contains staff-curated content and promises to have anything you could ever want to print, that goal is a pipe-dream and they're selling you bullshit.

@WandererUber I thought that's what you meant when you said "the website is paid" in response to me saying "you went to a free website". I never said the supports were a *good* idea, but just providing a possible explanation despite how retarded it would be.But I see where you're coming from now, I didn't know how deep you were. I should probably lurk more.

@WandererUber I feel like a system like that wouldn't work too well. Mainly because 3D models can be a creative outlet and there can be infinitely many variations. Staff would be backlogged approving the 1000th anime figurine and 10000th circular vase variation along with some random shim for a broken headphone jack.Clearly the current system doesn't work though, I find it easier to search the name of a product and leverage the shitty search to find modifications for that product that I could print.
