       Having used http://fedifinder.glitch.me/ twice to scoop up Twitter folks twice—I can say confirm at least my circles are migrating over here. Got about 20 folks the first time and another twenty+ the next. Now I just need to figure out how Mastodon works 😜

       OMG I’ve spent so much time learning about Mastodon and reading about folks dunking on Elon Musk that I’ve managed to procrastinate studying all the hard ballot propositions and races on my multi-page California ballot 😅 😭 🗳️

       If I understand correctly there’s an existing Mastodon convention to only list the first post in a thread publicly, and then the replies are expected to be unlisted to avoid this overwhelm problem. I’m not sure there’s an automatic way to set that up.

       The other take I’ve seen (as a newbie to Mastodon) is that many people are not in the US and don’t want to be bothered with US politics — or whichever country is not theirs. Or they want to have an option to opt-in via CWs.

       That sucks 😞 I’m sorry. I got more harassing replies in my first week here than ever on Twitter. (Still less than 10, but yikes.) It felt good to be able to block and report, and the local server admin was supportive. But it does make me miss the heavy hand of Twitter moderation in some ways.

       @admin First week—I think I came over last Thursday or Friday. I came due to the Twitter implosion, but I had been meaning to try it out. I’d heard really good things about mastodon.technology 😢 Sad to have missed the original instance.
