@hund are there possibilities to tile using a GUI nowadays?I remember when I last looked into tiling WMs I had the biggest trouble to memorize these additional shortcuts to arrange windows and there was no GUI to use instead

@GNUxeava If I have an account on a US hosted mastodon instance the same could happen. The fediverse is as problematic in my eyes as long as identity is bound to an instance. You can not just leave your instance without starting fresh (ok there is export/import on mastodon, but you lose followers, right?)Git is already decentralised (it's just that people don't know how to use it without fancy web interfaces I guess)

@realcaseyrollins Who else do you think would be able to help standardize?Companies have no incentive to do so as having their own cable increases profits and vendor lock-in, at least for the big players. So as long as we have capitalism diversion is inevitable I think.I agree it shouldn't be up to a goverment to chose the technology though. But then external standardization organizations also seem to have issues to work in the interest of the consumer or gain traction with companies. See W3C or ISO issues. Also Qi is horrible in terms of efficiency. We should not use it normally for energy conservation reasons.

@OpenComputeDesign political parties?I was using the word in a more literal fashion: you want to preserve your current state instead of moving with the times.

@OpenComputeDesign sorry for not adding something meaningful to the discussion and trying to amplify your saltiness. You have a point. But I guess this dilemma is in the nature of capitalism, where the goal is not to make users most happy with products, but increases profit to no ends.
