I recall they made LGBT mad, then everyone else started eating at Chick-fil-A even more. After that, they decided not to make further donations to the organizations they were donating to before.

I actually don't know why the US beefs with Russia. There was less beefing under Trump, and now, people are saying there could be another world war. >_>;My first guess is that it's something to do with oil, trade, or the US dollar's position. The transition would not be smooth. gnusocial doesn't federate well with pleroma or mastodon. It would federate okay with misskey and friendica however.

My bad luck with instances strikes again. This one is shutting down on March 31st, so I'll have to migrate. But I might not bother with it because it is extremely hard to find people with the same interests. None of the fandoms I wanted to join or establish want to touch fedi. After gnusocial took a huge hit, I still can't find the kind of discussions I was looking for (#writing as an art, #fandom). And even though I can find tons of people I agree with philosophically, the only content that gets shared between us is news, current events, or memes. I might come back after a while. I think fedi is constantly getting divided, squeezed, and stretched. It sometimes comes across as separate cliques with sparse connections between, but it doesn't resemble a platform. Even if I joined a joined an instance about anime, I think I would just find memeing moe fans and cropped doujin/hentai.

Yeah I know Discord and Tumblr are the places for fandom. I will simply never join them on principle. What was really depressing is that all the different places for discussion like forums, blogs, and so forth got funneled into a chat app of all things.A chat app has a completely different pace. I like longer term discussions and reading elaborate posts. But I don't think anyone has the attention span or memory for that any more.

Friendica has had quote posts for a while and I find them useful. I think it's silly to dismiss quote posts and recommend screenshots (no link, something that can be faked etc) instead.
