@bortzmeyer "In one absolutely bizarre anecdote, an Argentine sergeant with a “hearing defect” could understand the scrambled analog voice. Datotek fixed its security, but only offered the upgrade to the Argentines, because no one else complained."Parfait résumé des politiques de cybersécurité réellement existantes...

@futurebird "You rent in the city in your 20s then you are supposed to move to a suburb"You're aware that it's not how things work in civilized countries, right ?

@datarama I'd be interested in getting the answer to your question "Why did the practice of writing mathematical proofs first pop up in ancient India and Greece, even though eg. Babylonians had been using pretty advanced maths for millennia without bothering to prove anything?" I never thought about it...(I don't think that I thought much about Babylonian mathematics, actually)@futurebird

@futurebird Yeah, search correction as standard suggestion is fine as many people will make a typo, but search engines not respecting the order to search strictly for the exact word you put in quotes is infuriating.

@futurebird IIRC, Stavrakopoulou's "God : an anatomy" uses the Book of Job heavily to argue for the evolution of Hebrew's vision of God along their history.

@futurebird I mean, it's obviously mesmerizing, so kids would absolutely be interested by it.And they would absolutely love to learn how to do it themselves.Which is certainly a good way to teach them some fundamental mathematical principles.I just don't know which nor how...

@futurebird Gen ai (as in generative AI) can't do anything and is just a buzzword here.General AI would certainly be able to perform well, but it doesn't exist (and we have no idea if it ever will exist).AI in general may be helpful though, provided it gets enough data.I mean, a lot of data, as to be able to point to patterns that a human wouldn't see.@clayfoot

@futurebird Could indeed be incredibly good, but I think that you should drive the story more towards psychological horror/philosophical reflection about identity/political analysis about the effect of AI on truth and shared reality; rather than the paranoia aspect.

@joachim @lxo What ?They invaded Panama in 1989¹, and led multiple invasions before WWII.¹I remember at the time how the usual useful idiots mocked that the Cuban TV covered this much more than Timisoara, which happened at the same time.Obviously European TVs and newspapers didn't make this mistake. But we learned later that the Panama Invasion killed more than 3000 people when Timisoara killed less than 1000...
