Paranoia about "Russian bots" is in some ways justified, but usually a completely inane conspiracy theory. Not everyone you disagree with is a "Russian troll"!Aren't they self-aware that this sounds like QAnon/"Jewish world conspiracy" nonsense at some point if all their opponents are controlled/paid off by some nebulous shadow government? And if it turns into hatred against random Russian civilians, like in the #Linux debacle...? There's Russian progressives, leftists, queers, unions too!

You know, I have to edit my posts to fit the character limit of my instance, so it flows kind of unnaturally in places. That alone would be enough for some people to point out the style and accuse me of being a "Russian troll".It's literally just xenophobia. They equate the Russian government with the entire Russian people, including their working class that suffers under their own right-wing radical state.Time to switch to the #GNUHurd if this doesn't settle down very quickly. #Hurd #Linux

@mima Fair enough. I do actually use Ladybird, so that isn't a very helpful comparison. :PI'm aware that I'd not be able to do super advanced stuff like state of the art video gaming, video rendering or using cutting edge hardware multi-monitor hi-dpi setups on a Hurd system, but for a little one-screen machine that just needs some text editor, music player and a browser that works with the basic mid-2000s web, that'd be enough.I'm just worried that Hurd is more at a "not even that" stage.

If I had my own band, I'd name it after an already disambiguated #Wikipedia article, just to make their life harder.Oh, you went to the Wikipedia page "Polymorphism (computer science)"? Well, do you mean "Polymorphism (computer science) (German band)" or "Polymorphism (computer science) (computer science)"?In other words, my new band Polymorphism (computer science) is going to launch its first EP soon.

@ricard @sophie The problem is that this is a well-established tactic for corporations like BlueSky to snuff out community-driven "competition".They're trying to kill us off.First they embrace the enemy technology (this is where Bluesky supports federation), then they extend its functionality to where people depend on your add-ons (say if they extended ActivityPub by something like emoji reactions), and then they use that leverage to extinguish the competition.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embrace%2C_extend%2C_and_extinguish

@adityatelange Who uses a Linux system but then wants to fight against malicious software? That sounds like the worst of both worlds.

Are there cozier #StardewValley-like #games that do not stress the player as much?I always bounce off S. V. in the first few in-game days because the whole game seems to be a terrifying race against time.Optimize your farm output before winter comes! Don't buy the wrong crop or waste all your progress! Don't talk to people or you'll run out of daytime to care for your farm!I always felt like Stardew Valley was the opposite of a cozy relaxing game for me. It was pure anxiety.

@john I personally use Arch Linux because I want a rolling release model distribution, since I was eventually fed up with years out of date packages in LTS distros.Despite the rolling release stereotype, my Arch installations very rarely break, and if they do, it's because I messed up and didn't read a warning.I enjoy the setup process resulting in an (from a user perspective) empty system.

Holy crap.I think I just found the single most impressive blog post I've ever seen.https://blog.glyphdrawing.club/why-is-there-a-small-house-in-ibm-s-code-page-437/Not only is it super elaborate, well written and sourced, it's also beautiful and impeccably styled with mostly perfectly #SemanticHTML... and it contains *practical, interactive* elements like drawing canvases and dynamic multifont charts??This would take me like more than half a year of nonstop work to put together. All for a "complementary post" to another!!Holy shit.@gdc
