@BrodieOnLinux arguably, that's better than having this shitshow of a repo up...

All right... I did it...I dumped #LinuxMint on my work laptop for #Ubuntu 24.10. Why?Well, after #ubuntusummit2024 I have this newfound admiration for what #Canonical does and how passionate #snapcrafters are about making Snaps the best they can be. Will I like it? Or absolutely hate it, like I did before? I give myself a month to find out. However, my personal laptop still has Mint. Not giving up on this amazing distro just yet!

@stfn I really want to like Plasma. But it's too... Rough. Not in the visual department, I think the 6 series is just awesome looking. But theming and how incoherent it is when it comes to how the applications and desktop looks is just offputting...

@BrodieOnLinux "Floorp" sounds like a meme browser, something not really meant to be taken seriously (like "Uwuntu")

@thelinuxcast +1Although, what I noticed that Ubuntu images are generally slow to download. Their mirrors are just plainly not fast. Certainly not as fast as Fedora

After #Firefox enabled #Sponsored Shortcuts and #telemetry AGAIN by itself I got *a bit* annoyed. Like I get it, they need to make money somehow, and gather some data. But if I opt out, then I opt out, and don't think about it anymore. So trying out #Waterfox. Really nothing fancy, Firefox ESR but with this stuff turned off and some privacy-focused tweaks enabled by default. And it has an #android version (not ERS though). So far really content with it. Keep up the good work, @Waterfox 💪

@BrodieOnLinux our neighbours (around the age of my parents) have 3 kids and we often meet on the staircase. I'm always a little perplexed, when the father greets me with "Hey there", and the kids go with respectful "Good day, sir".It's been a year we're living here, I still short circuit sometimes :D

@BrodieOnLinux I use Mint on my laptop, just because I absolutely, 100% KNOW that it will always work. No matter what, no matter when, no matter in what circumstances, it WILL work. And well, Cinnamon's Wayland is so experimental, that it doesn't even have a different keyboard languages, so I cannot use my native one

@BrodieOnLinux what a load of horseradish! Don't you know the first rule of vibe coding? "You don't have to understand the code the AI has written, as long as you instruct it to not make any coding mistakes"And I would love to be joking, but I really saw a post where a guy said "You just have to tell the AI to not make any coding errors and you'll get perfect code" and posting links to his GitHub, containing absolutely garbage code in all of the projects...

@BrodieOnLinux watch out, one more word and they will probably say you're facist and the literal seed of the devil. Even though I'm not a developer, even I can see the problem with "We won't implement global coordinates even though it's essential, because X11 does this" statements. This is bullshit, and what started as a great effort to modernize the Linux desktop, is slowly becoming yet another "protest project", like Devuan - existing solely to protest against X11...

@karolherbst @mks_h did you even read what you've written? Brodie is EXPLICITLY asking people NOT to harass. On his Masto account, he reinforces that, and asks NOT to leave meaningless, harassing comments:https://mstdn.social/@BrodieOnLinux/115523139895001468Yet you are still claiming, that he encourages harassment, because... people are saying mean things in comments under his videos? What an astonishing logical gymnastics. Some of us have lives and can't spend days deleting comments. Brodie's not his community's dad...

@karolherbst @mks_h also - have you ever stopped to think, that maybe not the content creator is the problem... but the topic that he covers? And more specifically, the fact that people tend to get annoyed when they see something they care about getting worse and worse? Maybe if he didn't have controversial topics to cover, people wouldn't get annoyed at the topics? Go figure...

@karolherbst @mks_h yeah, it's the problem. The real problem. And no amount of deleting stupid comments will solve it. Solving the underlying problem will solve all the problems connected to it.Not going to argue anymore. I might get called a facist, it's trendy lately in FOSS to call that someone that doesn't agree with you ;)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMy worst fear realized...@linuxmint team, despite DOZENS AND DOZENS reports and requests and EVERYTHING decided, that they will go the KDE Plasma way with their redesigned menuMeaning if you have menu icon placed in the CENTER SECTION OF THE PANEL, the menu opens CENTERED ON THE BUTTON, and not ON THE SCREEN/PANELWhat this means - the position of the menu CHANGES depending on how many apps you have pinned/opened. WHY...#mint #linux #rant #sad #linuxmint #bad #design

@selea @linuxmint what's super annoying - I know for a fact, that this is possble. Because Cinnamenu behaves as you would expect - centers on the screen, not the button
