@rolle I gather one server in Australia blanked the #Eurovision tag because it couldn't cope with the traffic.Not a good advert for #Mastodon if some of it can't cope with large events or have long lags

@rolle many Mastodon/Fediverse advocates like to think that it's a rival to Twitter. There are going to be some recent joiners who might have experienced poor performance on the server they're using tonight. That might affect their perception. That's what I meant by 'advert'.I get they are all different systems managed independently.The one I'm on coped brilliantly.

@rolle most users don't want to know or care.I love Mastodon and the federated approach. Perhaps some server admins will ponder how many accounts they support in the light of high profile events.The last thing I'd want to hear is people leaving because it couldn't cope where they are.Could possibly reach them and explain before they go back to Twitter

@stux I have figured out how to filter out posts with things like 'Twitter' in the mastodon web UI, but can't find that functionality in the #MastodonApp.Tempted to add a Trump filter.

@raymondpert @admin Unless I'm missing something, what data is there to leak?Someone could get my email address. Judging by the ton of spam I get it is pretty much out there.Most people don't use their real name, and no phone number or address details are stored.I know this system isn't encrypted so wouldn't send sensitive information on it.Nice it's been spotted and fixed. My pants were never in danger of getting soiled.

@wjmaggos @mondoweiss There is no requirement for the publishing system to be integrated into the server.Basic publishing tools such as WordPress have Mastodon integration available as a plugin.Suspect large news publishers have their own bespoke authoring and publishing systems for security if nothing else. They wouldn't want anyone breaking in using a vulnerability in an off-the-shelf system.However, I would be looking for them to engage not just dump a few words and a link to a piece.

@LeonardoColo25Mastodon Depending on where you have flown in from, this place is very different.No algorithm suggesting people to follow or driving content at you.You kind of build your own algorithm.Find hashtags that interest you and Follow them.A good way to find interesting accounts is to look at #FollowFridayTo get the most out of this place a good source of info is #FediTips and @feditips We have bots here, with most being useful or fun, @lowqualityfacts @scream Enjoy
