Coming back to unemployment, as many did after WWI, the ruling class knew wasn't going to fly.Also, the growing popularity in Canada of the CCF scared the crap out of them, particularly after the 1944 win in Saskatchewan.So, the ruling elites knew they had to bring in at least "some" reforms.

@Otis_Scops The computing device you are using to post here also contains mined and often rare earth materials.But batteries can be recycled so that the materials don't have to be mined again. They can also, in certain circumstances be re-used to power lower voltage devices.I don't think you understand batteries very well.

I am ambivalent at best about the carbon tax.No, it does not cause inflation or tooth decay as PP would have folks believe.But it also doesn't really do very much about the #climatecrisis either. Legislative, regulatory and programmatic change would accomplish much more.The carbon tax is a neo-liberal "we done something about the climate crisis" policy.

@patatas I'm old enough to remember the response to job loss after the Canada/US FTA. Liberals slashed and burned EI benefits and "balanced the budget" on the backs of the unemployed.There is no reason to believe that this time Liberals will be any different.
