Birch tree today had a cool looking infection/disease, and I have no idea what it is. help? The neighboring birch also had this. Each part of the tree, at the base, middle, trunks, limbs, canopy, had this, some more some less.No idea what it is.

@maija define "it"In OP pic, the wood coloration outside of the black, almost ink-like lines is perfectly normal, almost too good. From roughly 3/4ths of the way up the tree.Outside of that pic:The main trunk was very diseased, but it was such a cluster of multiple different funguses, rotten and half empty inside. And the same black lines, and a ton of other funguses. Even had icicles on the inside of the closed off bark, that was quite funny. But where there was no/hard to tell visual damage on the outside, no matter where, there was always a cluster of black lines visible in the cross section of the wood.A screen cap from a video i took, with a clearly visible crossection cut at ~~3 meters high. Some of those very strong hard border black lines can be seen, they look like cracks, but they are the same black lines. Sorry, it snowed so much that by the time i cut that piece into a ~~3 meter long piece, it was already covered in snow.
