@p @Leyonhjelm @alyx @ceo_of_monoeye_dating @fba @nyanide @sysrq Yeah, but I don't think it's one or the other. The point is to subvert those places that in combination with mass marketing, will be able to positioned as the hubs through which normies will be funneled. It's not about taking us to their side, we can always be sidestepped. It's about controlling normies.

@p @Leyonhjelm @alyx @ceo_of_monoeye_dating @fba @nyanide @sysrq Not if the biggest instances they are directed to are freeFEDextremist, fediFEDS and similar, while non subverted instances are fediblocked. Normal people can differentiate between mastodon[dot]social and poa.st. But they cannot differentiate between poa.st and nicecrew. They will go where they are told and where they get their cummies. As such, they only need to take control of some of the spaces, and then make sure that those are the "places to be".My expertise would be leftist spaces pre-Occupy but a similar process happened to hacker spaces.

@Pi_rat @SuperDicq @p >How do you manage your images since you always seem to have relevant images ready for occasion.Have you ever used hydrus? https://hydrusnetwork.github.io/hydrus/index.htmlI've been using it for years now.

@p @SuperDicq @Pi_rat @hj What happens if you've got a couple of million images and you start moving things around? Does it go through all moved directories and recompute hashes?Things get even worse with architectures that support publishing/sharing your images and tags with others.

@p @Pi_rat @SuperDicq @hj How is it going to know it's the same files. If there are any discrepancies between its internal representation and the files on disc, it will have to recompute image hashes.

@Pi_rat @SuperDicq @hj @p I like the simple approach that you have chosen. Focus on having a working prototype and perhaps later you could add hashes as a fallback.

@Pi_rat @p @SuperDicq @pwm >I will look into this, Im not sure how I would go about it at all since I have very surface level understanding of OOP.I think he meant to make a class specifically for database operations. The database connection/initialization code will go into the class init and the cursor will be a class variable only accessible by the member functions. Then in your main routine you instantiate the class, let's say an object called db which you then use to call the methods providing only the information necessary. For instance db.addtag(path, newTagString), db.deletePath(path), etc. It's been a while since I wrote any Python btw, I only use jupyter-notebook with some forecasting and data analysis libs nowadays.

@p @judgedread >a late imperial court problemBtw, Malthusianism gaining popularity can also be a late imperial court problem. It is a very old idea among the upper classes. Aristotle in his politics mentions how various city state rulers wanted to control the size of their population, with a particular city state keeping men separate from women in everyday life to incentivize homosexuality.

@p @judgedread It's in Book 2 towards the end:https://classics.mit.edu/Aristotle/politics.2.two.html>he likewise encourages the separation of men from women, lest they should have too many children, and the companionship of men with one another> καὶ πρὸς τὴν διάζευξιν τῶν γυναικῶν, ἵνα μὴ πολυτεκνῶσι, τὴν πρὸς τοὺς ἄρρενας ποιήσας ὁμιλίαν,ομιλίαν = companionship https://lsj.gr/wiki/%E1%BD%81%CE%BC%CE%B9%CE%BB%CE%AF%CE%B1Generally about population control:>One would have thought that it was even more necessary to limit population than property; and that the limit should be fixed by calculating the chances of mortality in the children, and of sterility in married persons. The neglect of this subject, which in existing states is so common, is a never-failing cause of poverty among the citizens; and poverty is the parent of revolution and crime. Pheidon the Corinthian, who was one of the most ardent legislators, thought that the families and the number of citizens ought to remain the same, although originally all the lots may have been of different sizes: but in the Laws the opposite principle is maintained. What in our opinion is the right arrangement will have to be explained hereafter. The whole of Book 2 is quite interesting because he criticizes Plato's Republic coming to the conclusion that its combination of sharing of property and women with a strict class based system is basically a mechanism to turn citizens into slaves.>For friendship we believe to be the greatest good of states and the preservative of them against revolutions; neither is there anything which Socrates so greatly lauds as the unity of the state which he and all the world declare to be created by friendship. But the unity which he commends would be like that of the lovers in the Symposium, who, as Aristophanes says, desire to grow together in the excess of their affection, and from being two to become one, in which case one or both would certainly perish. Whereas in a state having women and children common, love will be watery; and the father will certainly not say 'my son,' or the son 'my father.' As a little sweet wine mingled with a great deal of water is imperceptible in the mixture, so, in this sort of community, the idea of relationship which is based upon these names will be lost; there is no reason why the so-called father should care about the son, or the son about the father, or brothers about one another. Of the two qualities which chiefly inspire regard and affection- that a thing is your own and that it is your only one-neither can exist in such a state as this. >The artisans, and the husbandmen, and the warriors, all have a share in the government. But the husbandmen have no arms, and the artisans neither arms nor land, and therefore they become all but slaves of the warrior class.

@Kalogerosstilitis2RevengeoftheJunta Munching on EU gibs is one of the country's main industries, others being tourism, real estate and bureaucracy. There are just too many people profiting from this system for things to change.

@kvit @hazlin Morality is codified tradition that becomes second nature after it is applied over a long period of time.It changes much the same way, by slowly altering your behavior according to a newer or older set of rules until it becomes natural.
