@mastodonusercount I was just looking back. 3rd week of October 66 people an hour was recorded at one point. It’s now 11,000 an hour… And this is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of the bird site’s numbers. Though if 10% of the people created 90% of the traffic, then maybe a lot of the user numbers there are actually fairly dormant accounts.

@tiago @estebanmoro I migrated last Sunday. I'd made more posts on here in 5 days than I had the previous 5 years on the bird. But not necessarily about/for myself. Often either to boost other newcomers, to boost how-to posts, or to help others. Admins have done really well at keeping the servers going. I'd like to eventually learn how to run an instance myself. Very pleased to be here, and appreciate the ones that were here before. Very mindful of that.

@leo someone suggested $5 I presume US, and equated that to a cup of coffee? So I would suggest, to be equitable to people in different countries, etc., what would a cup of coffee cost in Your country? And would that expense be something you would normally pay? Or would you think of that as more of a luxury?

@stux I've only been on here since last Sunday. I carefully read the server rules. I carefully read some of the guides that people had posted. I didn't come across anything the first 4 days. But decided I didn't need to see, X X escort service, so I blocked that. Then I did see something that probably would have made me angry in the long run, so I muted that. It's not difficult to manage yourself. People need to invest the time. Not expect everything on a plate.
