I think the same thing about psychology. When I have listened to well studied psychologists who actually delv deeply into historical documents as well I've heard them say that most psychological ideas and concepts were already developed and studied. The ideas were just given different names. They wouldn't say "sociopath" but they'd have a label for someone who defies good natured cooperation and has no empathy (and matches the rest of the traits too)We might not have had computers in the 1600s but it Is no surprise that some guy probably sat under a tree and thought, "how can we communicate across great distances very quickly?"His only limitation being the lack of preceeding technology.Except for the Egyptians. Those guys had flying cars, I swear 😝

Well, thank you. I do try to think deeply but sometimes that gets me answers while others it sinks me into a stupid hole of pointless thought.I have some talents but I've seen people with actual photographic memory recite books that they read for a few seconds. I might be deeper than average but I'm likely not top tier, haha.I've liked the handful of conversations you and I have had. Minds is a good place for conversation most of the time.

A person doesn't realize how rusty they are at a skill until they dive head first. I am a pretty good creative writer but my technical skills were way too rusty. I thought that my first 8 chapters were well edited until I had someone who was more experienced in proper writing read it. It was a mess. But I didn't give up. I've been staring at my computer screen an average of 11 hours a day for the last week, editing and relearning the grammar rules I have forgotten. I feel burnt out sometimes but it'll be worth it.After I retrain my disciplines my second book will be much smoother. I'm going to keep grinding until this first book is acceptable.

I could see the argument for tsunamis if the climate change theories were true. Change in temperatures could shift conencentrarions of pressure. But even the most committed climate alarmist should know that a volcano or earthquake would have no obvious relationship to tlclimate shifts. Volcanoes and earthquakes would have more involving changes in the pattern of tectonic plates If I were an advisor for the climate activists I'd recommend they use the tsunamis alone and leave the other two off of the reporting all together. It would be more effective that way.

There is severe deep-wired conditioning in all of us. I still have to consciously force myself to run some numbers through my head with certain purchases. Many lower-quality cuts of beef are 7.50 a lb now. I see a 3 lb roast for 22.50, and I think, "That's expensive." It is, but it's way more nutritious and filling than fried chicken at the deli and cheaper by the pound. There's a whisper in people's ear that pushes them to make the worse decision. It's a hard, but necessary decision to silence it.

I had a cliche internet conversation with a family member who believes in the extreme leftist beliefs. In one section of the conversation, he was overtly saying Hitler was bad and did bad things. In the next section, he made the overt statement that he believes "All morals are subjective."I had to chuckle because it was the identical conversation that I've seen on the Internet 100 times. If morals are subjective then Hitler was good in his, and many of the societies, perspectives. Either there are at least some objective rights and wrongs or all things are permissible in certain contexts.

Definitely in the way that killing is permissible if you're shooting someone who is about to gun down a preschool but it isn't permissible if you're the one headed to the preschool. With that framing, "killing" is permissible in some contexts, but I'd say that "cold-blooded killing of the innocent" isn't ever permissible.

@dwarvenallfather That may be. My main frustration in the original post was the hypocrisy. I can understand the logical consistency of someone who might argue for the validity of subjective morality, but it's funny to find so many people who claim to be subjectively moral but label things as objectively bad or good in the same breath. I'm strongly in the "morality is objective but ethics are subjective" camp. Although I understand the subjective morality argument I laugh at the hypocrisy of the majority who hold that view.Occasionally, when I've watched debates on the subject, the subjective morality representative finalizes their belief with logical consistency. Those few are the exception though.

The sister of the hyper-feminist who wrote "feminist mystique" said something similar about the Cold War. She became antifeminist after seeing the behavior of the movement behind the veil being related to a higher-up. The quote (paraphrased) from an interview I watched with her was, "We believed we'd won when the soviet union fell, but that wasn't the case. Even though their government collapsed they'd invaded the minds of our women and children." Winning isn't always who has the flag in the soil. Sometimes it's who has caused the biggest ripples in the opposing culture and society.

Go back to the founding fathers and explain to them that "The right to bear arms shall not be infringed" is apparently not clear enough. We need an addition written at a first-grade level in crayon to make it clear for some people.

Here's a promo for my novel, Mind In The Crowds. It'll be a few more days for Amazon to approve and process it. The Central Authority dictates every facet of Fredrick Xavier’s mundane life — until the veil of their motives is torn away. When Fredrick witnesses a coworker’s brutal public execution by a Central Authority Officer, Fredrick questions everything he is conditioned to believe. He escapes his neighborhood through a hidden tunnel system, uncovering government practices that shatter his reality. His life is a lie, his neighbors are just tools of the state, and there is nothing left to tie him to his past in search of true freedom. But his pursuit of freedom unearths chilling secrets about the Central Authority’s true power — secrets that could bring society to its knees.
