@futurebird I’m sure, I just think it’s ironic that a lot of them don’t care about that nearly as much as they do about the superficial crap, the same as the bud light stuff, how could you get mad about something that’s already so cynical and hollow (not that Dylan is cynical, but bud light sure is)

@futurebird the thing is for most stuff we don’t need 200v and it is more dangerous than 120. I think we could get away with 240 in the kitchens where it matters and 120 pretty much everywhere else (also your house is probably already 240, so putting in a 240 outlet is usually as simple as running a new circuit)

@futurebird I think focusing specifically on the politics I can actually affect (state & local) makes a big difference. A lot of the national stuff is theatrics anyway, and the important stuff is the stuff causing harm at my level anyway

@futurebird Computer History is straight-up relevant to my computer-touching job regularly, in part because we've barely advanced computers in 50 or so years, and in part because knowing the history of a system helps you make educated guesses about it's present.

@futurebird my worry is they're going to do to computers what they did to radio: once the rot-growth is over they'll make it illegal for new entrants to break into the space and let the incumbents extract all they want, that they're never going to let computers be free
