But it is true that an emotional experience is something EA hasn't been able to provide to players in, like, easily a decade and a half.Which is highly ironic because TS4 was the game that was sold to us as "emotionally intelligent", since its core gameplay mechanic was the introduction of "emotions". - superpowers (ugh, don't get me started on occults...), and became completely meaningless. And on top of that, EA decided to chase trends and add as many IRL memes as possible into the game, which is utterly incompatible with emotional authenticity... especially when those memes are 6 months to 1 year old by the time the expansion is released.So yeah, if Paralives can accomplish any kind of emotional weight every once in a while, it'll be a radically different and better game than TS4.

And as far as I can tell, than InZOI too. But that isn't too hard considering all the reviews I've seen so far about that game mention how shallow it feels.Oh noes, you mean the Uncanny Valley Kpop Simulator relying on genAI for fast content output is not very deep ? Who could have seen that one coming.

Frankly we don't need to expect Paralives, an indie game made by about 15 people at its peak (much fewer originally since it started as a solo project !), to attempt to destroy a multi-billion dollar franchise. That's an unfair expectation.If Paralives is good, and can sustain itself as the devs project, then that's all I'm asking for.

See, this is why I've stopped playing TS4 (and frankly am over the franchise as a whole). This looks so terminally superficial and dumb. What about this is a LIFE simulation ?

For a game that refuses to represent actual disabilities, and has only had a handful of pretend sicknesses over the years (most of them being in Get to Work), dedicating a whole aspect of the upcoming pack to describing illness as a "personal imbalance" is some f*cked up sh*t. The undertones of that kind of decision regardling the depiction of health and lack thereof is rubbing me the wrong way.I'm sorry but at this point I'm all in for Paralives, which is not pulling that kind of BS.
