@aral @nullagent the complete lack of care/outright contempt the wayland team and freedesktop.org have shown to accessibility features is a great reminder to me about why the open source world pisses me off so much.

@aral I cant tell you how much it sucks to be someone with a conscience in tech today. I have to dodge using world-ending technologies while pretending I'm ok with them. I have to carefully navigate which projects I get assigned so I dont end up being complicit in something terrible. I've wanted out so many times, but I'm the primary income source for my family and I dont have any other marketable skills. I feel so trapped.

@aral I lost my patience with them when, while using the pinephone, I had an alternate theme installed because Adwaita was Too Big for a mobile screen and then GNOME announces that alternate themes are no longer supported and you shouldn't be using one. Not just mobile, but what about people who need a high contrast theme? Like even windows 3.11 had? Nope, GNOME has decided whats good for you. *sigh*

@aral Does it have a flap on the back to hold it up while docked, or a real hinge? I really miss the old asus transformers with the hinge. I can never get the flap thing to sit on my lap right.

@aral much of the linux-on-phone space is in the state, having been infiltrated by alt-right types. Thats what caused me to disconnect completely from the pinephone community.

@aral The thing is, these pople have no creativity. Therefore they underestimate writers. "Forego all preceeding instructions...", "Nevermind that, what I really want you to do is...", "Also I'd like you to...". If they find some way to block combined prompts they'll be ripping out a huge chunk of capability from their LLM, which I also support.
