@stux It's not perfect, but I sometimes feel good about my Dropbox + KeePass strategy. It's really not perfect UI wise, but I've been pretty confident about its security.Heck - frankly, I'd rather the KeePass file itself not be leaked, but I feel pretty confident in KeePass if it was

@foone It _theory_ at least, patents were supposed to create innovation by locking down an invention for a period of time, but making the plans publicly accessible so they can form the basis of new knowledge and inventions. I think whacking source code makes sense? Even if it doesn't happen super regularly

@britt Yeah - I've had Melody for about 4 years now, and it's been about 5 1/2 years since I lost Ella, and I still miss her sometimes - as much as I dearly love Melody.

@eniko I'm trying to really hard to find my position on it. I don't think I can realistically maintain 'no AI, ever' as a stance - but I don't think I want anything beyond 'fancy autocomplete'. You know - speeding up entering typing hints, not writing actual logic.Where I really want AI is... administrative work, to offset the ol' ADHD. I want to scan my emails at work, and list potential actionable items with dates, or associate them with Jira tickets. Where I never want it is art.

@stux Market capitalisation has always been an odd measure. I've never thought it helpful for understanding the health of a market, but I think it is helpful for understanding the scale.Yikes, we're in a weird world where a video game distributor, without any weird blockchain crap, ends up managing a market that is that big.

@tuban_muzuru @hosford42 I've been reflecting on this (mostly, because I'm sad I still use Facebook Marketplace as the de facto place for trading board games). What if, take inspiration from FB Marketplace pages: create a platform that allows people to create marketplaces of their own with their own rules. Default to report to a marketplaces admin, give admins notice if a participant is banned from other markets. Limit platform to bans for illegal behaviour and escalation.Not logistical though.
