And I am also fucking sick of people telling me that Elno has no power. He's dismantled the best resource people had for quickly organizing protest and support. I asked for places to donate to help trans folks relocate and *crickets*. Not because Masto doesn't care, but because it doesn't have the same reach. And that's a big deal actually.

I am a committed late adopter. I hate having accounts on things I never wind up using. (This all started when Russians bought Livejournal and I never did use Dreamwidth and then Friendster and MySpace ...) I wait until a platform is very established, which is why Masto made the most sense for me to join, when leaving Twitter. I can't imagine having all these new ones, waiting for people to say something you haven't seen them say on all the others. I'll just park here, thanks.

It's funny how we were told Twitter didn't REALLY matter, that the number of people on it was relatively small, it never really affected change ... yet there are SO many tech bros trying to create a replacement for it (and [at least ]one actively working to destroy it). So I guess it was a big deal after all.
