@acjay Moderation and legal problems are not small, but I think the likes of Google could handle them.Their bigger problem might be how much of the Fediverse would react immediately or eventually to defederate them. Maybe they won't care, so long as their own users can talk to each other, but they won't be able to offer "access to the Fediverse" as simple as that.

@NanoRaptor I was ready to believe the hardware, but that grayscale Rubik's Cube could only come from Hell itself.

@lauren I agree. Both are selfish and cruel, but I've heard DJT is funny in person. He wants to be liked. DeSantis seems like he wants to be feared.

@lauren I did subscribe to YT Premium until recently. I stopped because the front page suggestions now include stuff that looks like obvious sponsored content. I've never been a wrestling fan, for example. Bopping "not interested" doesn't seem to help. When I saw the resignation news today, I was hopeful that YT might improve instead of being more and more frustrating.

@grammargirl Yes! It's a thing, not a human!I could write a program to randomly select words from a dictionary to produce nonsense. It has exactly the same kind of agency and intent as Bing. The "AI" just has a bigger dictionary and a more complicated selection algorithm.

@grammargirl Such sentences can confuse readers because it's not clear a new sentence began.

@stanford It looks like Dumper.pm is corrupt (Perl is complaining about syntax errors in there).I see that's in the libperl5.36 package on my Debian (dpkg -S Dumper.pm), so try reinstalling that.

@clive Whatever my thoughts about "the world" when I was a child, it's clear to me today that I treat children differently than adults, and how we see the world has much to do with how the world sees us.

@ZachWeinersmith I'm here to advocate for "Weird Al" Yankovic. He's known for parodies, but he makes good original music too.
