I've tolerated a lot of nonsense from #Alexa. Random tones/light even when there's nothing going on in the house (no chance of thinking she heard the wake word). The stupid "by the way" suggestions. Unable to provide answers that the first result of a google search can. All of this, I tolerated. Today, Alexa has forgotten how to skip and how to stop. I had to unplug her to silence the news story that was running. I think I'll just.. not plug her back in.

@aj Woot! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I am super stoked for season 2 as well. I'll have to watch season 1 again before September. It's not perfect by any means, but it grows on me every time I watch it. ^_^ I'm glad you're joining us on the adventure!

@hybridhavoc I'm not the kind of person who buys alternate book cover art. I do have some books as both physical and digital copies, but that's the most duplication I'll do. And my WoT library is digital, so *shrug.*

@LukeF It's suggested two characters had sex, but you don't see the act, just them talking later, clothed. The only skin is Daniel Henney's butt as he climbs into a bath. Nothing sexually graphic. There's some graphic violence though, and very emotionally charged moments. Nothing I would have had a problem with at age 15, but I don't have human kids so I can't speak as a parent. I would just suggest having tissues handy.

@LukeF Worth noting: The show does change some things from the books. Rand & co are aged up a bit, some people and events are a bit different. Think of it as one of the other turnings of the wheel, not exactly like the one we read about in the novels. Allow it that freedom and you will enjoy it much more.

@steveshives I'm so glad you enjoyed this episode! I did too, I laughed just as hard as I do during a Lower Decks episode. I was impressed with how well the actors embodied the physicality of their cartoonish origins. Boimler tangled in the wiring under the console was so good.

I enjoyed episode 4 of #WheelOfTime season 2! Liandrin continues to be amazing! I continue to see the value in most of the changes from the novels. My only (very minor) complaints: I don't like how Moiraine is treating everyone. Like Aes Sedai Rudness turned up to 11. I still maintain Moraine is only shielded and not stilled. And Lan.. Lan. "I don't even know what Moiraine wants anymore."Meanwhile 2 episodes ago, Moiraine: "I'm going to find Rand & ensure he's ready for the last battle. Nothing else matters." So essentially the same exact mission she's been on for 20 years. How in EARTH is Lan in doubt of her mission?

@FantasyForTheAges I have no problems with people who have negative opinions of the show. It's not going to be for everyone, and that's okay. If someone can't get into the show, or can't set the books aside to enjoy the show for what it is, or just don't like it for whatever reason, that's fine.What I will not stand for is people who state negative opinions as fact. Statements like "this shows the WoT books simply cannot be adapted" or "the showrunners clearly have no idea what they're doing" or "this is NOTHING like the books at ALL!" - those people get blocked. I don't call them evil bookcloaks, I just remove them from my universe. Because that's straight up bullshit and I aint got time for that.I swear to god all the ppl saying "this is NOT WoT" would be OUTRAGED if this same production changed all the names and sold it as something other than WoT. All those same ppl would be saying "THIS IS JUST THE WHEEL OF TIME!!!" 80% of the thing is still the thing, FFS.

@aj I think you'd be totally fine to wear tunics. I myself have toyed with the idea of getting outfits from India. They're gorgeous! And from what I've read and experienced, its it's not considered appropriation and locals are often eager to share.

My husband brought home the cold that's going around his work. He says everyone has it. Now I have it too. This virus is smart. Makes the host's nose run like a faucet, but otherwise symptoms are so mild that nobody is willing to take PTO and stay home. Maximum contagion. Husband tested negative for covid so at least we know it's not that. I've gone through a whole box of tissues since yesterday. At least I can breathe through both nostrils at the moment.
