It's really a matter of self defense to be solid, but if you are comfortable with guns and fatal defense to protect those who you care about or that are at risk or sensitive, now is the time to get guns, practice with them, be comfortable with them. Not everyone is comfortable with guns or even fighting and that is okay, those people make the world worth fighting for, but the other side that would deny them life and liberty is armed and only gets more emboldened and aggressive every day.So those if us with the ability should give to those who cant and ensure they are granted the safety to be themselves, and match force with force. Kind words alone won't stop a nazi with a gun, but kind words and a bullet to back them up will.

Gotta love Elon nerds and their false equivalencies. One tried to call me out because I wouldn't do some stupid thing he which isnt the same as deciding to have a large private jet that must comply with ADS-B regulationsSo after his tangent of calling me a hyppocrite I just told him "quite the opposite man, they just are not the same but you know what is, look me up KK7HUT" and his response was "bro I dont even know what that gibrish means how does it relate"All I could tell him was "Its my federal identifier for something that I use to beacon location and weather data, and participate in a network that exchanges that with the NWS."

@thegibson yeah I know that now but younger me would have not had the courage of a 20 something frat bro to be like "youd be lucky to hire me" It probably would have prompted me to actually go to college when I had the opportunity to get my living expenses covered and do it for basically free.

@thegibson @purple Yeah to sort of echo TheGibson here, since Im actually responsible for hiring to some degree where I am now.The list is what would be a purple squirrel. If you had everything on it and werent a total tool during the interview we would have found our magical unicorn and would be overjoyed to hire you.The certs are almost never a complete waste if you're starting out, they make up for lack of work experience showing us you understand the basics of $foo. Where they become a waste is at my level where Im Sr moving into Staff/Principal Security engineer, 16 some odd years of tech experience with 5 being related to security and automation in some fashion a Security+ is basically meaningless for me.

@purple @thegibson no problem, and that is a good appoach and should open up more than ground level if you have a work experience gap of some length, but remember in general the DevOps, Security, and Sysadmin fields overlap heavily and are heavily understaffed so gaps dont mean as much as they used to as long as you can show your knowledge is recent and relevant during the interview. If I didn't hire people that had gaps or were strict Cybersecurity professionals id likely never fill any of my job vacancies.

@thegibson sometimes the most punk thing to do is to use a system to destroy itself, that's why I'm excited to see companies adopt ChatGPT soo readily...

@leo and that's all it is, hey we want to look hard without actually doing something hard that will affect the shareholders of our sponsors. I seriously believe congress needs to walk around like NASCAR drivers with thier sponsors sewn on thier suits

@tek@freeradical.zone really, I dont bother with most of that for home defense, I rely on genetics and being totally out of fucks to give. People behave a whole lot differently when you are large and come out to confront them with some sort of mix of they are annoying but it would also be a relief if you lost. Makes them really unsettled. Its also how I get free service at places that I know are ran by asshats. Ever seen how people react with a large grown man starts crying? I mean just like uncontrollably bawling their eyes out.

@skobkin @torvalds Always loved that argument. It's like you realize thats how humans generally learn right. That principle software engineer didn't exit college able to do what they do, they learned it over years by looking at code and mistakes and not all of it they got permission to look at.
