In fact resigning ourselves to "reality" is the real problem. Reality meaning political reality - the true reality is the climate crisis which will worsen as political reality continues to be accepted. What is needed is more protest, more unrest, more uncivility and more dissent.

@ajroach42 @freakazoid Small scale hardware manifacturing seems like a nightmare, planning-wise. I was in a different hardware pre-order where they tried to give continuous updates, but that also ended up upsetting people as estimate after estimate came and went due to various issues and delays, like manifacturers making promises and then just ignoring them when a bigger order came in. But yeah, that was a pre-order and I was aware of the uncertainty when I ordered. If I was doing something similar, I’d try to be as brutally honest about the uncertainty as possible up front… and definitely not claim that things are in production before they really are. (2/2)

I have been diving into both Zig (ziglang.org) and Roc (roc-lang.org) lately. The potential combination of the two is interesting. Put the system-level layer with potentially unsafe code in a platform written in zig, and write the higher level code in a pure functional language with a powerful type system that still compiles to efficient code. For things like web servers or games, this seems like it could be ideal.
