They've been inconsistent with VNs and weed shit in the past but Chao;Head doesn't even have any nudity in it. Shit gets more convoluted when porn is involved and I'm more surprised they allow most of that content than some of the things they ban. This is just a psychological horror game though. It's content is gore, not nudes. I can't think of any game that's been blocked from Steam for this before, and this is a game getting console releases without issue

@Jim @Richard_R_Ape @William_The_Dragonborn The PS3 price and could probably compounded it too. Being harder to develop games for the new architecture certainly didn't help smaller studios who were being pressured by the higher development costs, and the high price of entry for consumers also meant there were less people to buy those games. I'd imagine all of that played a big roll in smaller Japanese developers focusing on the DS and PSP in particular. Those games had a ton of great JRPGs and the domestic market was heavily moving towards portable consoles as well

Thinking it may sadly be time to get a new pair of headphones and retire my PXC 550's. Headband foam is starting to wear off and can't be replaced. Easily one of the best purchases I ever made with how much use I got out of them for over 5 years. Anyone on fedi familiar with the Bose QC 45's? Does anyone else feel that there may be something even darker and more dangerous on the other side of tech censorship? I look at the incredible turnaround of cloudflare on terminating Kiwifarms, and Elon going from talking about free speech to bringing in the ADL and a dozen other pozzed orgs and it really seems inorganic. I know neither of these situations were perfect, and I expected Elon to cuck out a bit, but a 180 degree turnaround in a matter of days from multiple people makes me feel very uneasy. Both of these guys are supposed to be very rich and powerful, and I get the vibe they looked into the abyss and what they saw made them run away with their tails between their legs.

@Moon I think thats pretty likely, but it really shows just how bad things are. If this is fundamentally the government making these calls it shows just how much shit is going on in the background. How many politicians who would claim to oppose this are either lying, or left in the dark so they can't actually fix it. How many people who supposedly have power, like Elon or Prince, are truly at the whims of the system no matter how much money they have or how big their company is. I think alot of people are realizing this is the situation, but seeing it happen in such a short amount of time with such a change of tone really scares me with how potent these threats must be.

@r000t @Moon Have to disagree there. If Elon's primary goal was making money off the purchase he wouldn't have taken the company private, and he wouldnt be trying to change the buisiness model. If he had any financial endgame with twitter, I don't think it was through ads. It also wouldn't explain the cloudflare turnaround. I know these are 2 different events, but the sharp change in approach in a matter of days indicates to me that they both saw an imminent threat coming for them.

I don't think its really that easy even for them. The turbo lefties tried to move to mastodon years ago and failed. Trying it again will still probably fail. The reason twitter remains isn't because it panders to turbo lefties, its because its established. Normies are bad at moving. They don't really care about journos and it would take a serious coordinated boycotting effort from major companies and celebrities to do any real damage to twitter with that crowd. Its easier for the lefties to infiltrate an existing platform and force their moderation upon it than to get random normies to move to something new.

Nick Fuentes throwing a soda in In-n-out is really a solid showing for one of his biggest problems: he hadn't grown up. He's stunted and still acts like he's in high school. It's not completely his fault, he had almost all of his opportunities taken away from him when he was like 18, but he never found a way to move forward. He was rewarded for his youth, and it gave further motivation not to grow up. I think it's a problem alot of young men are facing these days, but he's a very prominent example with circumstances that amplify the condition

@VD15 I think the more terrifying possibility (and more likely imo) is that the amount of tasks that can be completed without full computer augmentation becomes near 0. With Neuralink nearing a stage where it can be used on humans, and AI reaching such high levels of competence, I think we will likely see human augmented brains within our lifetime. Once that line is crossed normal people will be obsolete and unless you're willing to wire your brain into those systems (fresh with subliminal messaging from megacorps!) you won't be able to function in society.

@VD15 I think the fact it's getting any real results at all is an indicator of things to come. It may be basic now once it gets any real progress I think it's going to open the floodgates. It may be moving mouse cursors now, but in a decade or 2 it could have a direct line to the internet. Even if adoption is hesitant all it takes us a small percentage of the population to adopt it and they'll have an incredible advantage over other people. Once that advantage is clear, everyone will slowly be forced to adopt the implants or be left in the dust

It really feels weird to me because gaming used to be such a big part of my life. I fondly remember all the times I would spend playing games with all of my friends. These days so many of them have moved on, but I still spend alot of my free time gaming. I've recently realized how different things are and its such a weird feeling. Alot of old friends feel like they've advanced in their lives, while others feel trapped in the past. I observe this phenomenon from the sidelines but don't see any real way forwards. Its a weird byproduct of having to grow up.

I had an epiphany that fedi is one of the few places that doesn't seem to have been taken over by zoomers. I think it's because it's more tech centered and caters to a sense of freedom control lost on that generation. The average zoomer who sits around in discord and social media all day never knew freedom and has no reason to leave. It's also probably one of the reasons I feel this place has vibes that remind me of the internet before things fully went to shit.
