‘Even already in 1983, just before Lotus 1–2–3, the president of Key Tronics, the biggest company making replacement keyboards for IBM PC and compatibles made by others, was asked “What is Scroll Lock for?”“I don’t know,” he responded. “But we put it on ours, too.”’

“The greatest illusion of this world is the illusion of separation. Things you think are separate and different are actually one and the same.We are all one people. But we live as if divided.”

If I have difficulties with the ontological status of who you’re tooting to, that’s all right. That’s not what this is about. This is about humans being human.

@martijnbraam I envy that board so much. My Sony DPT has no markings, nothing on both sides. I thought iMX6 should be easy to handle but it will take me ages to find a serial port on that custom board 😹

“Whether you think the W3C's moral drift over 25 years is good, bad, or merely inevitable, one point is beyond dispute: that it happened under the reign of Berners-Lee.”

I enjoy an entertaining README.“Scientific publications are too dry. Too much math, too little emotions. Science needs emojis! Leave a small heart to value the hard work gone into a paper (Smith, 2014 heart ). Flag self-citations as in (Sixt et al., 2019 selfie) Finally, you can express what you truly think directly as in (Wakefield et. al, 1998 facepalm). We could also indicate, how thoroughly we read papers (Van Wesel et al., 2014 see_no_evil)”— https://github.com/berleon/emojicite

“The computers actually delivered a lot more than a one-word answer. They supported it with a long proof — 200 gigabytes in size — justifying their conclusion.”

There used to be apples which fell down and others which flew up into other space. Those which flew up did not get to reproduce. So apples evolved to fall down.

“Now we come upon an issue of public relations. It’s one thing to say “The sum of two even numbers is always even”, and another thing to say “You can’t find two even numbers whose sum isn’t even”. Even if they’re logically equivalent, they’re not psychologically equivalent: the latter assertion throws down a gauntlet.”
