Soyuzmultfilm's Katerok (or "Toy Boat", if you wish) is probably most known for its' one dream sequence set in a distant african island of Choonga-Chunga, rather than everything else in this ten-minute cartoon. Probably a good example of how racial stereotyping can be put not towards asshole uses. I'm not gonna lie, I still don't know how to approach people when they're in deep deep depression. Especially over the internet. It's like, on one hand, I don't really wanna talk to them, because there's too much shit to peddle on my side; on the other, I genuinely wanna help them, but I'm not sure how. It's a clusterfuck of thoughts.But yeah, maybe that's what people should teach in schools. Preventing escalations.

@luke For those who happen to read Fedi comments, here's another bit of advice if you wanna get one step closer to self-sustainability: watch 'Murican prepper channels on the yetube.Maybe not the ones that gets tons of gear for free to advertise it, but there's still plenty who live out of town, growing their own stuff, and DIYing and buying this just in case.Bear in mind, not all of their material will be applicable to whatever your country house story may be, but at least it's gonna be an educational watch.

@luke Honestly, I firmly believe in that The System™, as obese and unsustainable it has become, might be too huge to sink, as long as it has enough money to sustain itself, and it already makes probably 30000% more than it really needs to.And I also believe that one can't really fight against the system (and score a definite win) if they are still part the system. I dunno, the future's gonna be scary either way.

The problem of encouraging people to move over to Mastodon - or, really, anything non-proprietary, when all they really want is Twitter:- They don't have to choose between a billion instances with different interests and rules, - even the "primary" instance, - as one centralised megalodon covers their needs just fine.- They're worried about free speech baddies seeping though their feed, even though most instances block 99,9% of those.- They're unaware of the actually better features Mastodon and Pleroma have for the socials (larger char limit, redraft button, muting and blocking as opposed to just blocking), and if they are aware, they say they can live without them just fine.- Still have a few good accounts on their Twitter follow list, despite the fact the whole place is a bonafide shitshow.- Still have their good friends on Twitter, who they won't ask to migrate, because that'd be kind of embarrassing and also bandwagon-ey.- Believe that them being banned on Twitter is no biggie since social media sucks anyway, despite the fact Mastodon lets you resurface on a different instance.- Believe Mastodon is unpopular as fuck (it's not).- Internet normies who are ready to weather everything, starting from the enforced, focus-tested, mobile-centric UI and ending with some really godawful censorship practices and tweets getting some *really* bad traction just on a whim. @why Was it really acquired, though? All I'm seeing is that it's tied to Google Analytics, and it's an unfortunately common feature even on smaller websites nowadays.(also, 4chan has been manipulating the culture since before 2015, AFAIK)
