@anornymorse @tyil @interru are you having some kind of stroke? The "flagship" Matrix instance is collapsing under its own weight. They can't even run presence notifications.Synapse is sufficiently shit that it can't handle moderate user counts. The matrix core devs care about growth more than a healthy ecosystem and correct protocol, and it shows because they're too scared to close registration on matrix.org.

@anornymorse @interru @tyil about 70% of active matrix users are on matrix.org. Are you suggesting that the network can "route around" the place where 70% of the users and >70% of the activity happens?

@anornymorse @interru @tyil oh, sure, you can use matrix as a system perfectly fine if you exclude yourself from almost the entire network, it's true. But are you really saying that the best way to use matrix is to stay away from the one HS where almost everything of value happens?

@anornymorse @interru @tyil are you saying that the only way to use matrix is to ignore the only HS of significant activity?

@anornymorse @interru @tyil matrix confirmed for toy protocol of micronetworks. This is the weirdest defence of matrix I've ever seen. All you had so say was "matrix.org is a shitshow and the developers are massively money driven, but the idea is pretty cool once the network gets healthy" and I'd have agreed with you.

@anornymorse @interru @tyil Instead you're doubling down on posting image macros and pretending that matrix.org isn't the worst thing about matrix

@anornymorse @interru @tyil matrix.org is where almost the entire activity of matrix happens because the core devs are chasing cash. And you defend this and say "yeah bro just don't talk to 70% of matrix users"?Just throw them under the bus man. I like matrix, there's no need to defend the shitty practices that have poisoned the network.

@anornymorse @interru @tyil matrix as a community fails if you have to splinter your network away from the core devs and 70% of users because they insist on it having a hub.I don't know what new vector are paying you but it's not enough to embarrass yourself like this.

@terryenglish @moonman @anornymorse @tyil @interru matrix has had 5 years of full time corporate development and is considered API stable (but the details still change too much for a volunteer foss effort to track it, hence why there are no workable alternative homeserver implementations)

@anornymorse @interru @moonman @terryenglish @tyil "reinstalling your homeserver every time you reach a dozen rooms is no way to run a credible IM service"
