Thinking of culinary tradition and how it reflects culture. What is the opposite of the American mega-burger for one? A Sikh langar?

Big news in cryptography! Sequoia PGP v1.0 has been released. This is an alternative implementation of OpenPGP (Pretty Good Privacy) standard, as compared to GnuPG. Besides being written in #rustlang, it takes a library-first approach. https://sequoia-pgp.org/blog/2020/12/16/202012-1.0/

@malin Maybe I'd just introduce it and other things early, so then we'd be able to opt out of the metaphorically diaper-and-acne-years of musical history.

If you didn't want this outcome, why did you choose MIT, BSD, or Apache licenses in the first place??

@malin This is regarding the Elasticsearch relicensing from Apache 2.0 to the non-open source SSPL. Turns out the problem with business-friendly licenses is that businesses aren't your friend, hey

@malin It's actually kinda surprising how much FOSS amateur radio activity there is, but I think it's a perfect intersection of niches, between software-defined radio and open hardware. Right now I am setting up a Raspberry Pi base station and it's a really fascinating way to dig deep into internals and performance of Linux hardware. It's one of the really beautiful things about this all, the fact that you can drill as deep as you are interested in, all the way down to electromagnetics.

One of the coolest features of electric vehicles that doesn't get talked about as much is gaining the option for electromagnetic braking in addition to normal mechanical brakes.

Birds are pretty incredible, but there's a couple pics in here to remind you it's a good thing we live in a world where they're mostly smaller than us https://medium.com/freely-sharing-the-sum-of-all-knowledge/the-majesty-of-nature-and-an-abundance-of-birds-on-full-display-in-wiki-loves-earth-2020-ee956cf74f2d

@omnipotens Same thing with turkeys! We used to have some along with chickens in the backyard growing up, it was always interesting seeing them fly to the top of the coop and night and see their silhouette against the night sky.

Just got my #Pinecil, and wow, it's great. There's hardly a reason to buy an ordinary soldering iron when a USB-C #RISCV powered one costs this little. I bet you could hack one of these into a hot wire anemometer that measures airflow by how fast convection cools the tip, too...

@omnipotens I lost all water pressure yesterday due to a pipe break but things were back up last night. This is one time it's lucky to be so close to a hospital for sure.
