My youngest son has been making YT videos of some various bits of Minecraft he likes to talk about. I've recently been working with him on moving to using Peertube as a primary platform, so he opened his Peertube channel this weekend.I'm hoping that he will be able to drum up some interest in order to try and have some fun all ages or kids stuff showing up in the video part of the fediverse!

@adminsHi all, I translated & read some of the german-speaking thread on Banning & Blocking which appears to have come about due to some issue that was perhaps localized, but still applies to the fediverse on the whole.I know @heluecht commented that if we had ideas for Friendica features to help with moderation, we should suggest them - I've noticed that Friendica doesn't currently have a "Report" function on posts. I think this could be a handy item for users where awful posts (or people) could be reported to an instance admin promptly, without a user having to do too much work to otherwise report it. (and is a feature in Pleroma)Next feature suggestion: Moderator role - a multiuser site should be able to have helpers that can deal with moderating posts & users.Last feature suggestion: move some of the bin/console functionality in to the Friendica web UI. The community blocking/silencing should be in a page under admin (at least to review/remove entries, which isn't something that even appears to exist without doing manual DB calls currently), and adding to the blocks should exist for moderators/admins on each post in the global community pages.Other points: The notion of another forum or meeting or discussion place for Friendica admins to discuss problematic admins/users seems counterintuitive. That's what this admins group is for, no? It's interesting reading some of the ideals suggested by some of the comments in the other thread... There's a really, really good thread on dealing with online communities by a very experienced, long time admin here: mastodon.social/@ifixcoinops/1…It's very long, but it's worth reading in your spare time, and quite frankly, there's a lot to learn from.As per the other thread - @ij did you notice chaos.social/@ordnung/10591278… and do any of their closing thoughts on it sit better with you?

I posted this as a reply to someone who was reposting the announcement about the issues Pluspora was having lately, but I figured I would post this just in general.I would like to extend an open invitation to you and anyone who is wanting or needing to setup another fediverse account (due to the unfortunate circumstances at Pluspora) to come check out Friendica. Our friendly Friendica instances speak many languages, so they reach in to many other parts of the fediverse - the GNU Socials, Pleromas, Mastondons, etc, as well as Hubzillas and of course, Diasporas. I don't know how difficult any of the admins are to get hold of aside from @amolith - Amolith is generally fairly responsive unless he happens to miss the mention along the way, but he's alive.Shouldn't take too long to get it taken care of, but I think it would be handy if they have some other system to handle the submission/change requests.

I believe in your friendica config file - might be config/local.config.php (it's what I'm still using but the location changed over the years). In the 'database' section, you'd want the line @heluecht suggested.

Ah, right, that's excellent, too. Nice to be in a place where you have as good access to it as you do. I think we have better variety in places like our grocery stores than we have had in the past, but much hasn't been great. Thanks for satisfying my questions, was just curious! 😀
