The state of #minidisc CLI tooling on Linux is not good. The original netmdcli does something when i tell it to put music on my device, but then it goes sideways and the md player turns off.The freshest fork doesn't even go there. When i tell it to put a .wav on my player, it says that this is not a wave file.Might be a nice area for tinkering around. I don't want to rely on that web app"(although it works fine) for putting music on my discs.

Was thinking about giving #neovim a testrun again, although i still very much like my classic #vim setup. Then i saw they're using an endorsement from DHH on their start page. And as a "bonus" an ad for some #AI coding thing. Thanks for helping me with my decision to stay with my old vim setup!

I do have #openbsd as dualboot option together with #linux installed. My only problem with that is that a sysupgrade overwrites my grub and i then have to boot the linux installation once with a live-system to run a grub-install again.I wonder if it is possible to avoid this annoying little step every 6 months.

@coolbean i do like openbsd very much so far. It's just that i'm still rather new to it (bit over a year now) and i'd like to have something i know as a backup.

@stefano The performance of FreeBSD is quite interesting here.Might this be due to all the optimization work for throughput and resource utilization that happened in the recent years? (at least partly driven by $large_streaming_provider as far as i'm aware)

@stefano Very true that good engineering pays off :-)And now that you say it, i kinda remember FreeBSD being the thing that was recommended back then if you wanted all the performance possible.

I've finally fixed my faulty bhyve vm (running debian). The problem was that the recent dist-upgrade put the bootloader in EFI/debian instead of EFI/boot.Thanks to a nice posting (https://www.davidschlachter.com/misc/freebsd-bhyve-uefi-shell) i learned a bit about the EFI shell and was able to quickly fix the vm.That's how internetting is supposed to be :-)

@neauoire the process of creating those notes probably already help a lot to remember stuff without even looking at them.Writing stuff on paper also writes the stuff into the brain somehow.
