@hirojin @natecull I haven't gotten very far into reading Leinster yet, but it went full Cthulhu by page 8. Where normal math has letters for numbers, and algebraists have numbers for concepts for things that behave like numbers then subscripts of letters for different ones, well.. category theorists just threw it all for a loop and started talking about entire collections of things and how they inter-relate at once .. not with symbols, but entire diagrams; then naming the diagram types.

@hirojin @natecull I mean ok, algebraists also talk about things somewhat generically, but our proofs are still a long series of tedious equations... category theory proofs are more like a sprawling alchemical diagram of arrows and greek letters and odd squiggles, each of which represents a slew of related equations, under which is written "the diagram commutes".

I got actual work done!Dropped my counter-example into a minimal field. Still need to test the drop worked.

Reminder! I play with numbers and I want to tell you about them. #SummerSchool arranged a delightful opportunity, which I'm really excited to participate in.I'll be speaking on 8/2 at 5-6pm UTC about "Algebraic numbers and dividing the circle -- the Kronecker-Weber theorem."It's the last day to sign up & make sure you get the links to all the talks you're interested in. Make sure to read through the entire list of talks; lots of great stuff going on. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeT4ZWL5iEiYulx72qpBR3zFfmGOoX-6OSXX_D-tL3aps57rw/viewform

@surasanji I would not dare stop Lobster from using whatever numbers they can find a useful representation of. Numbers are free; some of their uses are not. :)
