       @stux it's really underappreciated in US media how the wealthy draw benefits from their CONTROL of money rather than their EXPENDITURE of it.By essentially locking $900M up in a charity, Musk retained some control of $4.6B he'd have otherwise turned over to Uncle Sam.So the question is, is controlling $4.6B more valuable than being able to spend $900M... to a person who has more money than he can spend already?

       If we could stop referring to people trying to deliberately cut power to thousands of people in the middle of a nationwide cold snap as "vandals" or "burglars" that'd be great.They're terrorists. If another country did that, we'd call it an act of war.

       Don't pay too much attention to the "Biden had classified documents" story.Classified documents end up misplaced more often than you'd think. The issue becomes a criminal one when they're NOT turned back over to the government upon discovery/request.Biden's folks did exactly what they were supposed to do while Trump tried to obstruct efforts to secure classified documents.

       @Tilopa @Popehat If someone walked around in a t-shirt that said "I 🍆 Tweens" that wouldn't be *illegal* but I'd expect people to shame and shun that person. Part of what holds society together is the definition of a set of acceptable ideas and the exclusion of others. Social change comes as we alter what is and isn't acceptable.There's no particular reason to be tolerant of fascism and I'd argue society is better not tolerating it.
