@dearthofsid Pew research shows that atheists are actually among the most informed about all religions compared to other religious groups. They may naturally have more knowledge about the one they left, but generally they take the time to read about others' too. Whereas religious people are often fed a lot of nonsense about other religions that they end up believing.

On Mastodon, absent religious supremacists of all stripes, I hope to have fruitful and fundy-free discussions about religion and atheism.To start, I submit that neither Sikhism nor Buddhism ought to be classified as religions, as they lack the requisite belief in a particular deity or higher power. They are simply a set of rules/rituals - in fact, perfect examples of how to have community without needing to believe lies. Thoughts?

@clacke @dearthofsid first I don't think anyone but atheists have higher expectations of atheists. Second, turns out we do perform better than other groups in this field for real, so...

@dearthofsid not all men and all lives matter are NOT liberal phrases. Liberals aren't the ones who used those by and large.
