This isn’t really about Mastodon being a Twitter replacement, it’s about breaking your community out of Twitter jail and taking them with you wherever you go. Yes, you have to rebuild on Mastodon, but once you do, you’re free and no one can take your network away from you. This puts you in a great position to quickly adopt many of the awesome new social sites that will soon be available:https://twittertomastodon.com/future-tools#TwitterTakevoer #twittermigration

Do people actually like thinking in tweets? A lot of us have been trained to do it so long, we thought it was inherently a good thing. Now, having a different option on Mastodon where I know there's no chance of going viral or being widely distributed, I feel a sense of relief in my thoughts even before I post.Pressure is off. My internal model of what makes a good post is loosening. Zero stakes posting makes me feel calm.#TwitterMigration #Twexit #TwitterTakeover

I usually fought the instincts and tried to post authentically without following the temptation of tweet-speak. But not having to take that extra step mentally is like the healthy version of a dopamine hit ...

@wjmaggos Sssshhh, don't tell my brain that posts can go big here. 😂In any case, I feel like you can make Mastodon what you want. You can shape your use of it to be more like Twitter, or you can make it something else.I'm enjoying getting back to first principles about what I would want out of "social media" when it's not synonymous with a single algorithm optimized for ads.

@leo I’m hoping Mastodon’s infrastructure is more “Can’t Be Evil”. No rage incentivizing algorithms, user controlled, etc. Humanity seems to be expressed differently based on the medium and this seems to bring out a more nuanced and balanced version. Less dopamine, more thinking.
