Would you really recommend Matrix over Signal for at risk users like direct action activists and journalists rn? AFAIK Matrix can not meet some of the security/privacy properties that Signal has.

Folks keep pointing out Element the company selling services to military and police.This totally sucks ofc and they're scumbags for doing it. However I don't see how this fact compromises the security/privacy of the application.I'm sure there's military and police using whatever security focused app e.g. Signal/XMPP/Briar.

Hello! I'm on my return journey from Chaos Camp (via Warsaw) and I missed my connecting flight due to to storm. Honestly I still believe the future of networked software is #P2P or now (person4person, punk2punk etc).It's the only way to empower the general public beyond our communities. Self hosting is a dead end outside of hobbyists. Community hosting is where we are at now and works but ultimately isn't the revolutionary paradigm shift I think we might need to dislodge techno feudalism.
