I decided to create an account on ruby.social, so: hello all!I had previous mastodon account but nothing really going on there, so I probably won't bother with a proper migration.

@feditips whoa, cool that it's now possible to fully migrate the account. Does it only work between Mastodon instances or others (like Pleroma) too?

@Corfiot @feditips I'm rather looking for migrating my account from Mastodon to Pleroma instance some day

@ilja Not sure if it's universal name, but at least in Parslet operations on a tree are done by a "transform".https://kschiess.github.io/parslet/transform.html

I think there is a slight problem with how Fediverse servers are marketed to new users. It makes them feel like it's a bigger deal than it actually is.When they see "instance for people who love fishing" they kind of think that you are only allowed to post about fish. While in fact this is just a small fish badge next to their handle and they can still do whatever they want (within reasonable limits).

@james Yes, it's true. Also, for that I would love to see a possibility to "subscribe" to other instance's local timeline in the app (like adding a new column in tweetdeck). So far I haven't seen this anywhere and it probably would make the server choice less "final".

Ok, re- #introduction time.Hi, my name is Paweł. I am on fedi since 4 years or so. I picked up #ruby in 2008 (1.8.x times), picked #rails some time later (2.3.x times). Since 2 years I'm coding #elixir professionally, but hold your pitchforks and torches, as I'm still doing Ruby as a hobby and for some side projects.Other than coding, I play #curling and feed my two cats.

What would be the best SSG (static site generator) for a knowledge-base-like website (wiki-style, lots of internal linking, rather lack of top-level structure as with documentation templates)? Still Bridgetown or something else?

So GitHub is using edge Rails updated weekly. On one hand, I'm impressed. And this is certainly helps the framework if bugs are caught in advance in such a complex product. On the other hand, chances of reverting a bad decision merged into main were already pretty low in Rails. Now I guess they are zero, because "it could break GitHub".https://github.blog/2023-04-06-building-github-with-ruby-and-rails/#ruby #rails #github
