@strypey @jeremy_pm @AnneleiseHall @upokongaro yes. A lot of LW people like myself were hoping for more from Labour. Many unhappy with the drop in covid defenses. None of those people see National as an alternative on those fronts

@aljazeera nice job amplifying terfs. What the world really needs is more platforms for bigots.

@BarrenPlanet @fbernaus @siobhansarelle @mwop @ieatkillerbeesThe problem there, IMO, is not the possible technology but the fact that we largely let corporations do whatever they want for profit and only regulate belatedly and after harm has occurred. Tech is fundamentally neutral in my opinion. But who gets to use it and how, is not

@go_shrumm @BarrenPlanet @ieatkillerbees @mwop I think there's a lot of scope for making helpful and useful AI without creating a self aware being.

@strypey I don't buy her clutching her perls over civil discourse after all her TERFy statements. You can't be a bigot then complain that the discourse isn't civil because people are calling you a bigot.

@strypey she spins awareness of social disadvantage as some kind of insidious conspiracy, and then accuses others of manipulating language. The RW has clearly leapt on "woke", keen to cast it as some kind of slur. Rank hypocricy

@strypey Yes, absolutely. A complicating factor with that narrative is that Hamas ARE terrorists and DO want the destruction of Israel. But the existence of Hamas is Israel's fault. You can't occupy and oppress people then clutch your pearls when they rise up against you.Bottom line, Israel can't bomb its way to peace. Israel will have peace when Palestinians have peace.

@rchusid un-fucking-believable. I never particularly thought of US as being especially "good" as an actor on the world stage. But this is a level of outright evil I find hard to stomach

@aral Ireland, Spain, Norway and South Africa has been showing real leadership on the world stage recently with regard to Palestine. The US and UK on the other hand are firmly on the wrong side of history. That the US is considering sanctions against the ICC is revolting and dispicable.

@futurebird I the sense that you hear it and it's an immediate winning of trust? No. I think trust is much easier to lose than to gain. For me, trust is gained by demonstrating the ability to actually hear what others are saying and respond rationally even if you don't agree. That said I have no proem with people having red flags if that's what they need to keep themselves safe.

@futurebird I agree. It also undervalues truth and evidence when people leap to false flag conspiracies absent any evidence at all

@billbennett @lightweight that would be great. Interactivity is imo kinda the point of the Web but most publishers seem to have given up because it's too hard
