Sometimes i believed in the legend of "convergence": one device to rule them all and forever bind them.Since i use a #pinephone and reposessed a personal computing environment that is frugal and tailored to my needs, i am completely re-considering.Got myself a "modern" device to run #Rockbox on (https://www.rockbox.org/). and OH MY! 1/ how much it progressed since the last 15y i didnt use it! 2/ how amazing to have dedicated, reliable top-notch audio sw+hw!Sometimes i leave "phone" at home.

@Khrys there is no way this is legal. at least not in the EU. yet it's not like they would care, would they? they're a US company after all... and many other US companies decided not to care (including the one they got billions$ from for many years....):(##am afraid forking may not be enough, when such level of #enshitification is reached... :/

@faxmodem Like for cinema or music: there are the classics, but the rest -often forgotten and disappeared- of the era is often forgotten or overlooked. And if you truly dig, you will see that among the overlooked works are often gems that nobody spoke about, but also countless inspirations from which the works considered "classics" drew and iterated upon. Sometimes the producer with more money, the better marketing dept, or just luck would preserve a work as a "classics" while another won't..

@JulianOliver @liaizon How about the code that was funded by Radio Free Asia, who actively curtailed free/libre software, made false secuirty promises, and is spearheaded now by someone who worked for Google?How about the code of an Israeli company whose business was metadata collection (invoicing) for telecom operators?How about the code that was bought and further developed by Meta?And after a while: what is left but your own code?
