@unearth It always fascinates me that the right-wing media has been pushing the "the left is coming to take away your kids" message for decades now, with not one single piece of legislation ever proposed by Democrats that would ever do such a thing.Yet constantly, we have legislation proposed by the RIGHT-WING, like this one, to do exactly that. Constantly.They talk about it because they're the only ones that think about the possibility. The left never actually thinks about such things.

@simon This is related to how you can give a book title and author and it can (based on some "knowledge" of the author), come up with a summary, maybe even an actual quote, all the while the book doesn't exist.If you give a quote and an author, and ask "what did they mean by this", again you'll get an impressive p.o.s. dissertation, and at no point will it stop and go "the person never said or wrote that".and THIS last one is the scary part as ChatGPT posts take over Google top results.

@cliffwade Just for the very few sci-fi celebs that haven't moved or quit yet (from Doctor Who, MCU, or Star Wars, generally).Also I do glance at it for updates from local government things like the fire department 'bots' telling us why the sirens just ran by 5 minutes ago. Those services need to get fediverse-hosted someday, but it is hard to explain to local govs why they should move.

@cliffwade Also, aside from Untappd and Instagram auto-sharing, I don't post anything anymore on the birdsite. I might reply if someone really is that wrong on the internet (or posts something really clever), but I don't post my own, but come here or FB instead depending on the audience.

@cliffwade Most of my friends are still there, some of my family. The groups/events system is useful (though I wish it was easier to export events as a refreshing stream instead of one-time only so i didn't have to keep manually re-syncing with google).I've generally withdrawn from any genre fan group over more than 1000 members. Too much noise, too many trolls and jerks that just like to repeat themselves in comments on every post (like "Yes sucks without Jon Anderson" - nonstop they are)
