I've been fighting with #conda and #mamba all day long, and let's just say I'm this close to never using either ever again.I'm usually an apologist when it comes to #Python packaging, but really that's just because #pip and #virtualenv are serviceable enough for 90% of use cases. mamba does a pretty good job of papering over the unusable mess that is conda, but it's still lipstick on a pig.In terms of the brokenness of python packaging tools, I think it'sconda > virtualenv > mamba = pip

I always thought editing video on #linux would be awful, but I've had to film a number of screencasts over the last couple of years and @OBSProject + @kdenlive is probably the best experience I've had ever (and it's all #FLOSS ).No more messing around with Camtasia or Premiere! It's a delight.

@simon I would likely rclone to another provider like B2 or R2.If the size of the bucket is manageable, I might rclone to a server where I could run Borg or restic to get real backups. You can never get guarantees from the powers that rule the server firmament, but rclone is made for this stuff so it likely fits your requirements.

@simon Click is great, especially for particularly in-depth CLIs. For simpler situations, I love Fire. https://github.com/google/python-fire

@simon totally agree. They are depending on a lot of trust where frankly there is a terrible track record, and it isn't apparent how their approach is different but for a pledge.A trust or nonprofit with transparent contingency plans and redundancy would go a lot further to assuage my concerns.

@foone I might be hallucinating but I fell like Maxthon had them at some point.

New #blog post wherein misreading a @foone post made me ask the question "What if we put an image in your image?"This post was in my drafts for months, finally found a few seconds to finish it off.(Replies to this post will appear as comments on the blog post)https://jszym.com/blog/xmp-steganography/#steganography #xmp #metadata
