       It’s funny that my own #Akkoma instance on a #RockPro64 that is swapping to an SD card (because Akkoma uses half the available memory immediately) and behind a DSL connection is still much faster with Toot! as a client than mstdn.io ever was.But it also certainly shows how well swapping on #NetBSD works. With around 1 GB swapped, nothing is slow. It really only seems to swap out pages that are ~ never used. That same server runs a #Synapse #Matrix server and there’s no delay in messages either. Also Akkoma push notifications to my phone are still instant, despite swap.

       @linear @mirabilos The fuck? Why would you want Mozilla to fail? When was a monopoly on something *ever* a good thing? And you’re arguing for a total and absolute browser engine monopoly by Google?! Seriously?! If anything, Mozilla is our only hope, we need it to gain significant market share again so that not a single company can dictate the entire web.

       @erAck Great. So that means I gotta stop using #Libera.Chat. I guess it’s a great reminder how centralized #IRC is and that we should get rid of it. #Matrix was the only usable way to use IRC with multiple devices including mobile, so this feels pretty much the same as Twitter turning off API access or Reddit turning off API access - it’s restricting how people access the content in just the same way.And I wonder if the reasons are the same: Libera being worried it gets obsoleted by Matrix. Because if the complaint is “most of our connections are Matrix users”, that should tell you something about relevance. I wonder if this backfires the same way as Twitter. One can only hope this results in the same decentralized future…

       @xerz I mean, the reason there hasn’t been a nuclear bomb built by someone at home isn’t that the info how to would be unavailable - it’s that access to large enough amounts of radioactive material is heavily restricted.
