@mjg59 Have wondered about this in the past, but for audio codecs. e.g Vorbis is a very poorly bounded spec and you can construct tiny bitstreams which expand to gigantic running length, and need a bignum worth of memory per frame. Bet you could do something absurd in MPEG video with a single I frame and then nothing but B frames.

@mjg59 I set myself the challenge of going through cryptopals a while back and implementing from first principles from original papers. Turns out most of them are buggy, or at least the common implementations don’t do what the papers say.

@mjg59 It is endlessly frustrating that to core concept of copyleft is tarnished by association with these people.

@mjg59 I irritate colleagues by telling them LLMs are closer to being a fancy zip archive utility than anything else, and if you frame it that way, it’s fairly obvious what the big players are up to.

@mjg59 Awkwardly prop up or rotate each device by their polarization angle, and awkwardly compensate for the rotation in software. At least it’ll be a conversation piece for anyone seeing your setup.

@mjg59 Buy two pairs of the same glasses and wear them rotated, one for each eye. Start a trend.

@azonenberg Ugh I know about 3 different vendors who have made the same mistake in silicon. You’d think it would turn up in testing or something. Or maybe all their engineers learned never to mux jtag wires and thus never test it.

@azonenberg There’s multiple vendors who messed up the ARM core integration and fail to turn off the JTAG wires when in SWD mode, which has nice side effects. This is like the first thing, from bitter hours of debug, I checklist on schematic review now: no debug wire muxing. Just don’t.

@foone Sadly, this eliminates almost all companies currently recruiting. (Cannot wait until the gigantic bubble pop)
