@RafiX @dwaltiz But do you mean federated Minetest or Minetest for the fediverse crowd?

@cj Have you thought of making Gogs/Gitea the guinea pig for testing this effort in the wild. More than anything else I feel that the fediverse needs its own git ecosystem. đ

@aral @kaniini @MacLemon @vinzv I never fully understood why a pocket data miner with open source software components was better than a proprietary not as data mining one. Iâll rather pay for hardware upfront than paying with infinite personal data perpetually. Itâs a bit embarrassing that Google paying lip service to open source is all it takes for people throw out privacy. Itâs to put too much faith in what open source can accomplish.

@wakingrufus Isnât it still? Canât even blame companies for doing so either. Itâs what a companies should do, in a sense. Thatâs why AGPL is interesting imo. @aral @kaniini @MacLemon @vinzv

@wakingrufus No, youâre right. I guess back in those days when social web companies complied with open protocols (Google, FB) people imagined this utoptian vision of companies playing nice within those protocols. Major economic forces such as exploitation of data, monopolization and a race to âbecome the protocolâ wasnât a concern for most of said people. Today thereâs Github⌠@aral @kaniini @MacLemon @vinzv

@wakingrufus But in general there was very little understanding of where the value of those companies were being generated. I remember Eben Moglen famously stating that Facebook was merely comprised of some âPHP doodadsâ (inspiring the Diaspora guys in the process).I guess my point is that the OSS community shouldnât have drunken the Web 2.0 Kool-Aid. @strypey US has failed to unionize ANY economic sector on a meaningful scale in the latest 90 years, why would an already a criminalized sector succeed?

@Wolf480pl I see, agreed on Synapse. But it's still the best I can find for a comms service that's:- decentralized- encrypted- supports images, attachments- supports reactions- supports voice and video ootb- clients for all major platforms- has LDAP- has many working bridgesFor that it can hog my RAM all it wants. :D @strypey
