@Oskar456 I think the ipv4-mapped address should work on Linux, but not on anything else.Because of a Linux-only feature, the kernel will under the hood convert ::ffff:<ipv4> to <ipv4>. No other OS I'm aware of does this.Since Android is Linux based, does this mean that it would work on Android?

@djasa @Oskar456 Interesting! I wonder why that is, only reason I can come up with is that there is something between the UI and the kernel doing some additional work.I tried on Firefox on MacOS, Linux and Windows so far, as expected, it works on Linux and fails on MacOS and Windows. I don't have an Android phone and I don't use Chrome, but I suspect that Chrome does its own thing with DNS, so Chrome on Linux may fail as well.

@tschaefer @djasa @Oskar456 Really? That’s interesting! The first link fails for me on Windows, and I expected it to fail as well.Any idea why it works on your end?

@EU_Commission Bad spelling and bad formatting is sadly also very common for legitimate mails.

@rms “even stealing a kiss” Are you seriously suggesting that it’s fine to kiss someone you’re not romantically involved with, without consent!?

@tschaefer That’s probably why #GitHub still doesn’t have IPv6 in 2023.

@futurebird @Bron1954 My partner is afraid of spiders.So I pick them up, walk towards the door, release it inside, open the door, make a throwing gesture, close the door and everyone is happy.The spider will be more careful not to be spotted next time.

@mms @dexter lighttpd and acme.sh. sniproxy for inbound IPv4 routing to the correct lighttpd backend, but those are exposed directly on IPv6; these typically share a jail and I use rc.conf for multiple instancesIf a program is really princess, I might consider running it under Apache in its own jail, but this is rare

@futurebird I think about before the industrial revolution, people would very rarely travel further from home than one day by foot.If we're willing to live like that again, can't we just do that on Earth? Self-sustaining space habitats sounds like de-growth with extra steps.(CC @ecosurrealism)

@foone Wonder if our telescope use will lead to memory errors at some point. Hope we don’t segfault, that be a major bummer.

@wjmaggos What’s preventing this: this has many answers, but one way this could be done is by doing exactly what Threads has been doing, by just implementing ActivityPub.Since Bluesky has a de-facto centralised component bsky.app that does interoperability between their “instances” or how do they call it. That centralised component can also do transparent ActivityPub bridging.

@wjmaggos The opposite would be more complex; if every ActivityPub also would need to talk to bsky.app, that would be a level of control many Fediverse admins would be uncomfortable with. LComing up with an alternative to bsky.app I don’t know exactly what would be needed, but I understand it would be a massive application and thus expensive to maintain, not something your little Fediverse admin could pay for.
