I guarantee you that every single Boomer, Gen X, and Millennial writing a "hilariously" over-the-top negative review of A Minecraft Movie deriding it as the death of culture and children's film etc etc has a deep and abiding love for some complete and utter schlock from their childhood that's basically a 60+ minute toy commercial

I'm not saying it's a good movie, I'm sure it's a bad movie, I'm very grateful that the kid's aunt and uncle took him to see it instead of having to do it myself, but uh, extremely commercialized puerile children's entertainment is not exactly a 21st century innovation, folks

What'd you do after you got done crying over Optimus Prime's big sacrifice? You got on your parents' case about getting you those new Rodimus Prime and Galvatron action figures, that's what you did.

@wjmaggos I think if both the Bears and the Sox want new stadiums, they should work together and build the dome of their dreams and share it, they don't need to use it at the same time

@merlin lol trying to do anything with that RHEL build of QEMU is pure misery, better off installing a normal one with Homebrew

@merlin Like I can only conclude that someone at RHEL really hates QEMU based on what they did to the poor thing

@merlin I'm surprised there isn't a rebuild of the Fedora QEMU SRPM in EPEL

@kirakira I mean the people behind it are same sort billionaire tech ghouls that are behind any venture capital firm, they're all pretty evil. Which one is behind a particular company is pretty irrelevant at an employee level, it's really only if you're founding a company that you gotta worry about the particulars of which beast you're bound to

@kirakira YC is really big on marketing the strength of their network, like oh invest with us and we'll hook you up with advice and sweet deals from all the other places we invested in, and we'll give you preferential placement on Hacker News. I think this only really works out if someone at YC takes a particular shine to your company though - they invest in something like 400+ companies every year so more likely than not when you call them they're going to be like "who? oh yeah..." Their model is built around expecting the vast majority of their investments to fail; they only give you 100k and ask for a whole-ass percentage point of your company. If you crash out they don't lose that much and if you do well they get a really sweet deal.

@kirakira I worked at a YC-backed startup for a little over a year, as I recall they did jack shit for us during that time. The company is still around and doing pretty good but I haven't seen a single mention of them on the Orange Website in the threeish years since then, no job listings or announcements, as far as I know all their big customers that they have now they had to hunt down and land themselves so no help there either. Still listed first on their "investors" page though, mainly for the cred I guess.

@futurebird I think the TI-84 is MicroPython, I wonder if it exhibits the same behavior on other platforms

(thankfully the shredder survived and went on to chew through 10 expired credit cards of more traditional construction)

guess I should have started on the other end because the full card number is still intact on the back (and apparently stamped in?)not sure how to properly annihilate this object
