@leoI forgot about some of those names. They bring me back to the days when we used to say things like "blogosphere" and "citizen media".We were so naive to think we didn't need main stream media any more. Information is such a mess after we gutted that industry in favour of individual voices.

@tek @eddMe too. I think the trick is to connect it to your guest network so it can't see all your stuff. Assuming you have to enable internet connectivity at all to make it work.

@bonfire @strypey I’ve long opined that social media’s most problematic design decision is that all your friends are the same so they all get all your content. The issue with that is that it’s simply not true. Some of my friends like horror movies, some are terrified of them. I know that and in real life, I don’t go to horror movies with them. But most social media models have you put every friend you have in the car and drag them all to the scary movies. Circles are a reasonable response to this but generally fail so far with users citing they’re “too much work”. That argument doesn’t resonate with me because in real life we segregate our friends constantly (“would he like this movie?”) and generally we do it out of kindness because we respect our friends and don’t desire to cause them stress. But, for some reason, as soon as we’re asked to do the same thing on social media, that’s a step too far and we balk at it.
