@BrodieOnLinux I know the reason actually, the simple answer is that it's a difference in traditional folklore, Christian narratives of kingdoms and holy warriors ordained by God still dominate our stories, we have very little traditional or spiritual connection to the land as the majority of its history is indigenous, not American. Bridging the divide between American spirituality and it's connection to the land is a central theme of my long-term project.

@BrodieOnLinux it's definitely novelty software for anyone who isn't using CRTs or OLED monitors without burn-in prevention firmware, but what kind of square would want to use a computer without novelty features?

@BrodieOnLinux yeah, I feel like if I wanted to run 30 year old hardware running the most recent kernel wouldn't be my top priority

@BrodieOnLinux You may have hit this one before but I still see it from time to time and its that unix philosophy 'originalist' dogmatism is counter productive outside of the cli.

Brief fallout review: eh. walton goggins carries the show. There's a lot of good things the show has going for it but the writing is all over the place. It seems to aim between taking itself seriously and delivering an entertainingly pulpy adventure and ends up delivering neither effectively aside from the action sequences.Watch I guess if you like action but don't care so much for well written characters or plots.

@BrodieOnLinux Does anyone aside from him feel that community implies democracy or equal footing participants? Thats deffinitly not my definition or association. Maybe a commune fits that bill, but to me a community is just people who form a network of social relations. Just seems like a bit of word twisting so he can call vocal dissidents of a project entitled parasites. Which is fine because obviously thats something they can become. But a community is not a collection of people that you like or even people who mesh well together, that would be a clique. Communities are inherrently ecosystems with complete with cliques and internal conflict and sometimes competition even. And I don't think anyone thinks there is a consensus or a governing body that designates that the open source community as a whole is a democracy. Imo if a project is struggling to establish their desired relation with the users, that is likely a flaw in their own communication rather than the language common to the community.

@BrodieOnLinux yeah, no doubt about that. There's a kind of person who will buy an ice cream cone, drop it, and then demand they get a new one for free due to the inconvenience. I don't think it has anything to do with whatever that guy was ranting about, probably the opposite actually. The cry baby free ice cream routine is not something that people who value community do.

@foone I can imagine it was regularly pitched to shareholders as an anti tampering security feature.
