#Islabikes to cease productionhttps://www.islabikes.co.uk/pages/cease-of-sale'Founder Isla Rowntree stepped back from the day to day running of Islabikes via an MBO in January 2021, handing majority ownership to current MD Tim Goodall. Since then, it has been a turbulent and difficult time for the cycle industry as a whole and neither Tim nor Isla wish to continue.'#bicycles #cycling #BikeTooter

@FeralRobots @GrahamDowns @carnage4life or worse - when management decide they can employ people of lower skill level and not provide training because they think that AI will save them from having to pay for people who understand anything

Odd/annoying problem logging on to @mstdn @stux using @librewolf #Librewolf (a #Firefox fork) - it won't accept my username and password. I can't remember if it ever worked, but definitely not this week. I just tried disabling any relevant extensions and even ResistFingerPrinting in case they were interfering, but nothing helped. It's fine in Chromium-based browsers - e.g. Edge and Vivaldi, where I had either logged off or had never logged on before.

@rms There were a lot more rail ticket types before rail privatisation, and they varied by region!I am not convinced that nationalisation will fix the railways - investment deoended on the ideology of the Party in charge, and also used to be cut if there was a more exciting transport project (e.g. Concorde) to spend money on. The railways were also asset-stripped whilst they were nationalised. Given our current Austerity-focused Government, I think it will just lead to cutbacks again.

@publius @cstross that sounds like the only bit of cycling infrastructure in my area that actually meets the post-Johnson Government standards. It doesn't link with anywhere useful, ends on a dual carriageway, doesn't have a crossing to the nearest school, so hardly anyone uses it, giving great justification to obstruct any future cycling infrastructure.
