@seldo I never really got into doomscrolling through randos. Easy to remove the app and bet very purposefully on Mast to follow people I actually know and engage with, enriched with a few journalists, and a lot of minority / LGBTQ voices, especially in tech. Still have a twitter account, but it's only so I can click through links in a browser to look at content.Mast is more like the web 1.0 blog and RSS days of engaging as time allows and not being food for algorithms optimizing for ads

@dave That article is not good. I've been using Obsidian a long time. android/ios have been out for years. I don't know what "bi-directional linking" is supposed to be, but I can link a doc to another and recurse or do circles and I never use the 3d map UI, the default folder/subfolder/doc structure that maps directly onto the text files works great. That said, the reason I went to obsidian was non-proprietary text files, an dan open source client for the same is even better.

@fosserytech I'm 58 and hear a lot of folks younger than me with that stuff. Nice, I like drones/world beat sounds with 4 on the floor dance beat generally. Then again, Yat Kha was doing thuvan thoatsinging covers of western musing 30 years ago 🙂 And there are no bad covers of Love Will Tear Us Apart.#music #tunetuesday #throatsinging https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_8CPhfTxyU

@venitamathias @blackmastodon@a.gup.pe @BlackMastodon@chirp.social waitaminute. I saw a headline about the 1st mother/daughter in space, but didn't read it. The article didn't even mention that they were women of color. smh.

@EdSanders @mekkaokereke I gave up about 1/4 way through reading the study, for just that reason. It seemed to be trying REALLY hard to equate black folks not trusting American institutions with QANON style craziness. Sure there are some nutty anti-vaxing POC, just like white folks. But almost all POC know about Henrietta Lacks and the Tuskegee Experiment. Did I somehow miss actual history of democrats keeping adolescent sex slaves/adrenochrome donors in the basement of pizza joints?

@EdSanders @mekkaokereke I don't really have any interest in WHY they did it. I now assume Pew is a brand that may have once been trustworthy but, like Forbes, is now a content clickfarm. If they ARE legit, they will need to spend enough money and time proving it with retractions, ombudsman changes and good work to break through me ignoring them.

@futurebird Interesting question. I don't know when I became white. I think as a white southerner, even growing up with civil rights activist parents, in a public university town, going to integrated public schools and integrated churches, I didn't become "white" for the same reason a fish doesn't know what water is. Being white is the default - easy to notice when you are discriminated AGAINST. The benefits of privilege are harder to see when they are everywhere
