@penny @eris well... nothing broke terribly for me yet, and I really don't mind configuring nginx, I need to do that anyway because I run a dozen things on this machine. To use typical geek terms, it works for me :P

@rysiek this is the part of the fediverse that always seemed the most utopic to me - it's not just a mirror of centralised services, it actually shows what things you can do with open interfaces and that's really damn neat

@calculsoberic It's been doing that since yesterday? The instance behind it is still fine, just try mastodon.social/web. I think Gargron just wanted to avoid even more newcomers all jumping on that one.

@calculsoberic it *is* seriously lagging though, hence why I wouldn't be surprised if it does die - I've been experiencing >20min delays until my replies federate over, and according to users on there the experience isn't all that pleasant.

@stux @Jain @ryancrawcour honestly I’d distrust Twitter DMs just as much as Mastodon DMs and any other unencrypted medium (no offence to any admins) - if it’s actually meant to be private, use an E2EE channel for god’s sake, that’s easier than ever today :P

@Jain @ryancrawcour @stux obviously - and I’d consider it a serious breach of trust and reason to leave immediately if and admin did that (thank god fedi makes moving relatively easy) - but as a techie I put paranoia over everything else :P
